Jennifer Knight is a third year doctoral candidate at West Virginia University. She is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received her undergraduate degree in Marketing with a Certificate in Public and Professional Writing from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. In 2015, she earned her Master’s degree in Communication Studies at WVU through the accelerated program.

In the Ph.D. program, her research has focused on both health communication and mediated communication. She is primarily interested in gaining a better understanding of the mechanisms behind narrative persuasion and how it can be used to influence audiences’ acceptance of prosocial health messages. Her secondary interests involve understanding the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes, as well as indirect effects of social media use like receiving social support in times of stress or emotional need.

She currently teaches COMM 309: Health Communication and COMM309 7D1: Health Communication, Online.
