Addo Anim Adinkrah is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Communication Studies at West Virginia University. My research focuses on health communication and examines the dynamics of messaging, campaigns, and awareness initiatives. I am particularly interested in how health promoters and regulatory bodies design persuasive messages to influence audience behavior. My scholarship analyzes the impact of health-promoting advertising in the media and assesses its effectiveness to deepen understanding within communication theory and practice. My research also explores the role of trust in communication technologies, such as AI chatbots, and their integration with human expertise in healthcare delivery.
Prior to his studies in the United States, Addo served as an investigator at the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in Ghana, where he investigated cases involving human rights violations, abuse, and corruption. He also gained firsthand experience with patient-provider interactions, serving as a supervisor in the implementation of electronic health management systems in Ghanaian hospitals.
