Priscilla Amoako-Nuamah is a first-year PhD student at the Department of Communication at West Virginia University. Her interests lie in the intersection of health communication, media, and behavioral change with specific focus on the role of pertinent communication strategies in promoting health equity and health outcomes. She aspires to understand how health campaigns use emotional and rational appeals to influence attitudes, knowledge retention, and long-term behavior change. In addition, Priscilla believes that the media and emerging technology shape the way individuals perceive health information, negotiate risk, and make health-related decisions.
Before starting her journey at WVU, She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Ghana in 2023 . She further attained a Master’s degree in Professional Communication Studies from Youngstown State University. Aside from Priscilla’s long-term goal of becoming a Professor, her aspiration to pursue a PhD program emerged from her desire to probe the scientific and tactical development of relevant and accurate health information to improve public health, particularly in community-based intervention and health promotion/disease prevention.
Currently, Priscilla teaches as a break-out instructor for COMM 270: Presentational Speaking. She is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant for COMM 104 : Fundamentals of Public Communication.
