The Department of Communication Studies offers the M.A. and the Ph.D. degrees in communication studies. The graduate faculty in the Department of Communication Studies is well-known at the regional, national and international level for accomplishments in research, teaching and service.

The M.A. in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Corporate and Organizational Communication is an online graduate program aimed at career-oriented individuals looking to further their career. The program is designed to be completed in two years.

Online M.A. Program Details

M.A. in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Theory and Research

The M.A. program in Communication Studies with an emphasis in Theory and Research is intended to qualify the student to assume a variety of professional roles in educational, industrial, and government institutions; teach the subject matter at the college level; or undertake advanced training toward a doctorate in Communication Studies. The program is designed to be completed in one academic year – Fall, Spring and the immediate Summer semester – and students accepted into the program typically receive a graduate teaching assistantship for their one year of study.

Ph.D. in Communication Studies

The Ph.D. program in Communication Studies is intended to qualify the student to teach and conduct research in instructional communication, interpersonal communication, or organizational communication at the University level, along with other research emphases. The program is designed to be completed within three academic years – Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters – and is aimed at preparing students for top-level jobs within the field of Communication Studies.
