Biography:

Hailey Scherer is a third-year doctoral candidate from Richlands, Virginia. She completed her B.S. in Psychology at Radford University and her M.A. in Experimental Psychology also at Radford University. Over the course of her time at Radford, Hailey developed a passion for research and had the opportunity to have two of her works published and to present other works at a number of psychological conferences, such as SPSP, EPA, and SEPA. At WVU, Hailey has had the opportunity to publish an article on the effect of mobility on parasocial relationships and has been able to present her work at NCA.

Hailey’s areas of interest are Mediated Communication and Intergroup Communication. Specifically, her interests include parasocial relationships, technological affordances, stereotypes, and group membership with a particular interest in fandom and LGBTQ+ identity.
