Emily D'Antonio is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Communication Studies. Their research interests include fan studies, LGBTQ+ online community formation, and fandom as a form of education for adolescents. Prior to attending WVU, Emily graduated Summa Cum Laude BA in Psychology from Catholic University, where they received the 2021 Department of Psychology Distinguished Major Award. In 2022, they received a graduate certificate in Women, Sexuality, and Gender Studies from Temple University. Emily is interested in pursuing both quantitative and qualitative research in graduate school to better understand online spaces and how they provide community for minority populations. Emily is currently teaching COMM 104: Fundamentals of Public Communications.
