Melina Danko is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Communication Studies. Her research interests focus on health communication and family communication, with particular attention to the development of translational products that make health information more accessible to a range of audiences. She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies and M.S. in Journalism, both from West Virginia University.

Melina brings more than 20 years’ experience in the disability field, where she has led the strategic communication initiatives to support health-related programming and deliver information to various audiences. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Communications at the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities, where she oversees two family support programs.
