Melina Danko is the Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing at the West Virginia University Center for Excellence (CED) in Disabilities and the Program Director for the WV Family to Family Health Information Center and Paths for Parents programs at the CED. She has over 20 years’ experience working as a part of and leading teams on disability and health communication initiatives. She has an extensive background in developing communication initiatives to market health programming, developing strategies and techniques to deliver health information to various audiences. She oversees all marketing and communication activities for CED and its 16 programs and four clinics including print, media, web and social networking. She has worked with many grants to develop targeted communication plans to reach their audiences, goals and objectives. She also is a member of the CED’s Executive Leadership Team and contributes to the overall leadership that formulates policies, administrative practices and development of CED objectives.

Melina Danko is a first-year PhD student in the Department of Communication Studies. Her research interests focus on health communication and family communication, with particular attention to the development of translational products that make health information more accessible to a range of audiences.  She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies and M.S. in Journalism, both from West Virginia University.

Melina brings more than 20 years’ experience in the disability field, where she has led the strategic communication initiatives to support health-related programming and deliver information to various audiences. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Communications at the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities, where she oversees two family support programs.
